Who are Urban Partners?

Urban Partners is a voluntary business partnership made up of a diverse range of member organisations from across the King’s Cross, St Pancras and Euston area. Members give their time, expertise and resources to achieve our shared vision and mission for the local area. With over 100 members and representing over 15,000 employees, Urban Partners has delivered social impact locally for over 10 years. Members include Google, Argent, Related Argent, Access Self Storage, Precis Advisory, Kings Cross, Eurostar, Green and Fortune, Guardian News and Media, High Speed 1 (HS1 Ltd), Springer Nature Group, and Havas.

Urban Partners have funded Workwhile to support local businesses to engage in apprenticeships and facilitate quality apprenticeship creation in the local areas of Camden and Islington.

What is the Urban Partners Apprenticeship Support Programme?

The Urban Partners Apprenticeship Support programme is an initiative delivered by Workwhile for SMEs from priority sectors in in Camden and Islington. The programme of support is designed to create impact for local businesses and residents through helping local businesses to engage in apprenticeships and to build the conditions for success.

SMEs from Camden and Islington can benefit from:

• Help to pay for apprenticeship training through levy transfer from Urban Partners members

• Handholding and support to get up and running with apprenticeships, from finding an apprenticeship standard (which apprenticeship course will meet their needs), selecting a training provider, to getting set up on the apprenticeship service

• Training for the line managers to increase the chances of success

• Some consultation around Good Work to provide recommendations on how improved practices around pay, wellbeing, diverse recruitment and inclusive practices/policies, and workers’ rights can benefit the business as well as the workforce

o Construction/Green Skills

o Digital

o Hospitality

o Creative sector
